FAITH

Well, today is Ash Wednesday and as promised I am writing about things I am thankful for each day of Lent.  First, and most importantly is my Faith in my most awesome God!  Faith is such a pretty word.  I just love how it sounds.  That one word can say so much.  Being the daughter of a preacher I have always known who God was.  I knew that Jesus died on a cross for me.  I was raised by two devoted parents who took my baptism vows seriously.  I was baptized as an infant (barely a month old!) My parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many many others raised me to know how important my Christian faith is.

Now I am very privileged to share my faith with amazing kids everyday!  I love to think of the parable of the farmer in Matthew 13 as my personal job description.  I am planting seeds of faith in the kids I work with.  I may never know what happens to them after they grow up and move on but I pray that the seeds I plant land on fertile ground.  My hope is that they will grow strong in their faith and plant seeds of their own one day.

Last summer the theme at Camp Sumatanga for the summer camping programs was Faith Alive! It seems that this has followed me throughout the last year.  At camp I realized that sometimes my faith isn't always alive.  Sometimes it's just there.  I have tried my best to make my faith more alive this past year for my family, friends, and my kids at church.  Faith is a verb.  My prayer is that I live it everyday in all that I do.  Sometimes, I do get down and get this - I have bad days! Who would have thought that!  But God is right there with me reminding me that the faith I have in Him is still present and will get me through anything.  Bad hair days and melted cakes included!

Well, I warned you that I am still new to this whole blogging/journaling stuff.  I hope that the more I do this the better I will get so thank you for reading and making it to the end.

Peace and Love,
Selena
